Starting January 22, 2026. Apply here.
Apply to the AI Governance fellowship by the AI Safety & Governance student group at NU to deepen your understanding of AI policy and governance; we will go through topics such as power mapping AI governance actors, International Policy, AI in Warfare, Preventing AI-Assisted Coups, AI and Copyright law, and US, China, and EU AI regulations. There will be one on ones and group discussions. Food will be provided every week.
Location: Tech A110
Starting date: Thursday, January 22nd
Time: 7-8pm or 8:30pm (depends on if you want to stay longer)
Schedule: Every Thursday until February 12th or 19th.
Who can apply?
We aim to accept primarily undergraduate and graduate students at Northwestern, but working professionals are encouraged to apply.
What are the dates?
The course will run for six weeks, with the first meeting on January 22, 2026.
What will I learn during this course?
Most of our material is drawn from the current AI political and governmental landscape. We've finetuned the curriculum to draw from a wealth of recent legislation and ongoing political, ethical, philosophical, and governmental debates.
When and where does each cohort meet?
We'll meet Thursdays 7-8 PM in Tech A110.
How much experience with governance/policy do I need?
No background in any of these is required. Those with more relevant skills may find the readings easier, but we think anybody dedicated and curious can get a lot out of this fellowship.
What if I already know all the material in the curriculum?
Please contact us at the bottom of this page to explore other ways of getting involved!
Who will be my facilitator?
Pardhu, Theo, and Sripad will facilitate discussion groups. Experienced facilitators are a real bottleneck from accepting more people and holding larger fellowships; if you're comfortable with the material in the syllabus linked above and interested in facilitating, please reach out to us at the bottom of this page!
